RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approve the Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Seventy-five public libraries across the country will be selected to participate in the grant program.

                     The grant period is May 2017 through October 2018, with an option to participate in Phase II, November 2018 - December 2020.

                     Each selected library will receive two (2) NASA STEM facilitation kits, $500 for local programming and inclusion for one staff member at a two-day NASA workshop.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The grant is offered through the American Library Association in partnership with the National Center for Interactive Learning, to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning opportunities for library patrons.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The value of the STEM tools and programming materials is approximately $1,500.

                     There is no match requirement.
