ITEM SUMMARY:
• Councilman Day has approached staff and offered to spearhead the effort to raise matching funds necessary for the design, procurement and placement of a carved stone sculpture
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Possible locations identified in the Public Art Master Plan include: Gabe Nesbitt Gathering Place, Bonnie Wenk Gathering Place, Mitchell Park, and Virginia/Louisiana Gateway
• The curator will assist the Arts Commission with selecting the best location and theme for the artwork
• The Arts Commission and/or curator will issue an RFQ for a local artist to complete the sculpture
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The total cost of the project will not exceed $40,000
• $20,000 of those funds will come from the Public Art Fund. The remaining $20,000 will be raised from private sources
