RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes an architectural and engineering services contract to provide architectural and engineering services related to the expansion and renovation of the John and Judy Gay Library located at 6861 Eldorado Pkwy in McKinney, TX 75070.
• The selected consultant team, Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. submitted a proposal to provide professional architectural and engineering services for the expansion and renovation of the John and Judy Gay Library in the amount of $778,218 on April 12, 2017.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Eight firms submitted Statements of Qualifications on February 23, 2017, and were evaluated by members of the Library staff along with staff from the Engineering Department and the Public Works Department.
• From the eight firms that submitted, the team of Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. was selected as the top ranking team.
• Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. is a professional architectural consulting firm based in Carrollton, Texas. The firm has been providing superior architectural design services for more than 50 years. They have designed more than 200 public libraries along with hundreds of other commercial and civic architectural projects.
• Previous experience also includes our own Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• John and Judy Gay Library Expansion and Renovation (LI1609) is a FY15-16 Capital Improvements Program funded by general obligation funds and funds approved in the 2015 bond election.
• The Resolution authorizes an architectural and engineering services contract for architectural and engineering services, including potential changes to the scope of services, with Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $855,218.
