ITEM SUMMARY:

Collin County Historical Society is requesting $7,062.00 for the purchase of Museum Display Cases for the Collin County Historical Society Museum.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Collin County Historical Society and Museum is an archival museum with historical artifacts, photographs, documents, diaries, manuscripts, historical maps, archival newspapers and land records that are important to the history of McKinney and Collin County.

The mission of the Collin County Historical Society and Museum is to preserve and honor the past, connect with the present and embrace the future.

Funding of this project grant request will facilitate replacement of existing cases that have been in the collection for over 30 years.

Current cases do not have the locking capabilities built into the structure of the cases.

Many items on display are one of a kind and are irreplaceable. The additional security that will be provided by new cases is critical.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

MCDC’s allocation for discretionary project grants for the current fiscal year is $1,259,745.

The balance remaining in the discretionary project grant allocation is $1,234,745 for the current year.

The request is eligible for MCDC Board consideration under Sections 501 to 505 of the Texas Local Government Code.
