RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approve the Interlocal Agreements

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Interlocal Agreement is made by and between the City of McKinney and the McKinney Urban Transit District members setting out the rights and responsibilities of each.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The McKinney Urban Transit District was created pursuant to Chapter 458 of the Texas Transportation Code as a political subdivision of the State of Texas, and the participating members are general law or home rule municipal corporations.

                     The agreement is made under the authority of the Interlocal Cooperation Act of 1971, as amended and codified in Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     For FY 17, the City of McKinney will receive approximately $401,858 from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the provision of transit services to the McKinney Urban Transit District (MUTD).

                     Members of the MUTD may also contribute funds for the provision of transit services in the MUTD.

                     The anticipated cost to each participating member of the MUTD for the provision of transit services will be based on the cost of administration plus the cost of services provided to their respective residents.

 

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

                     The McKinney Urban Transit District (MUTD) Board approved an Interlocal Agreement at their February 28, 2017 meeting that authorizes the City of McKinney to be its direct grant administrator and has authorized the City to pursue, apply and receive federal grants on behalf of the MUTD
