RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Elect one person from City Council to serve as Mayor Pro Tem.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• On June 6, 2017, City Council elected Travis Ussery to serve as Mayor Pro Tem until the completion of his term of office.
• Section 18a of the McKinney City Charter requires that “The Council shall elect from among the Council members a Mayor Pro Tempore who shall be elected once per year at the first regular City Council meeting in June. The Mayor Pro Tempore shall act as Mayor during the absence or the disability of the Mayor, and if a vacancy occurs, shall become Mayor for the completion of the unexpired term. In this event, his or her former place as Council member shall be deemed vacant.”
