RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Consider and discuss development fees for the McKinney Independent School District (MISD).

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Staff was recently approached by representatives from the McKinney Independent School District (MISD) with a request that development fees be waived for future school projects. These waived fees would include permit fees, application fees, and inspection fees. Impact fees are not paid by school districts.

 

                     Staff is seeking direction from the City Council regarding if these fees should be waived and the mechanism in which to waive them if the fees are to be waived.

 

                     If the City Council sees fit to do so, fees could be waived via a policy document and would apply to all school districts with boundaries in McKinney or an Interlocal Agreement could be executed with MISD or any other ISD seeking development fee waivers.
