RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: Approve Ordinance certifying the Election Results for the June 10, 2017 Run Off Election.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• An election was held on May 6, 2017 for qualified resident voters of the City to vote for City Council members: Mayor, District 1, District 3, and one At-Large.
• Of the five candidates for the Council member At-Large, no single candidate received over fifty percent of the votes.
• Of the three candidates for the Council member District 1, no single candidate received over fifty percent of the votes.
• Of the five candidates for the Council member District 3, no single candidate received over fifty percent of the votes.
• A Run Off Election was held on June 10, 2017 to elect the Council member At-Large, Council member District 1, and Council member District 3.
• In the At Large race, Derek V. Baker received 1,700 votes or 34.86% against Charlie Philips who received 3,177 votes or 65.14%.
• In the District 1 race, La’Shadion Anthony Shemwell received 662 votes or 57.27% against Dusttin Pearson who received 494 votes or 42.73%.
• In the District 3 race, Margaret Harsch received 831 votes or 44.11% against Scott Elliott who received 1,053 votes or 55.89%.
