RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:  Approve Ordinance certifying the Election Results for the June 10, 2017 Run Off Election.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     An election was held on May 6, 2017 for qualified resident voters of the City to vote for City Council members:  Mayor, District 1, District 3, and one At-Large.

                     Of the five candidates for the Council member At-Large, no single candidate received over fifty percent of the votes.

                     Of the three candidates for the Council member District 1, no single candidate received over fifty percent of the votes.

                     Of the five candidates for the Council member District 3, no single candidate received over fifty percent of the votes.

                     A Run Off Election was held on June 10, 2017 to elect the Council member At-Large, Council member District 1, and Council member District 3.

                     In the At Large race, Derek V. Baker received 1,700 votes or 34.86% against Charlie Philips who received 3,177 votes or 65.14%.

                     In the District 1 race, La’Shadion Anthony Shemwell received 662 votes or 57.27% against Dusttin Pearson who received 494 votes or 42.73%.

                     In the District 3 race, Margaret Harsch received 831 votes or 44.11% against Scott Elliott who received 1,053 votes or 55.89%.
