RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Adopt a Resolution naming an 11-Acre neighborhood park site located at 10450 Millbend Drive George Webb Park.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* City Council has adopted a policy allowing for the naming of parks and park facilities. (See Attachment)
* Per the Park Code, one of the powers and duties of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory (PROS) Board is to make recommendations to the City Council on naming parks and park facilities. (See Attachment)
* Names are generally recommended before or soon after a park or park facility has been constructed.
* Design of an 11 acre park located at 10450 Millbend Drive has begun and civil constructions plans are currently being prepared.
* On September 14, 2017 the PROS Board selected, to recommend to City Council, "George Webb Park".

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* On September 8, 2016 PROS Board recommended the name Dr. Mack Hill Park for a 16-acre park site at 1849 Regan Drive.
* On September 20, 2016 City Council approved the name Dr. Mack Hill for the park site located at 1849 Reagan Drive.
* During the naming process for Dr. Mack Hill Park a second name, George Webb Park, was also considered.
* The PROS Board requested that the name George Webb Park be brought back for consideration for a future park name.
* George Webb has lived and operated a business in the City of McKinney since 1951. As a member of the McKinney Jaycees, he led efforts to open the first recreation center in McKinney. He is a former Chairman of the McKinney Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board.
