APPROVAL PROCESS:
* The recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission will be forwarded to the City Council for final action at the October 17, 2017 meeting.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
* Staff recommends approval of the proposed amendments to Section 146-42 (Temporary Uses) of the Zoning Ordinance.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* Staff is proposing to amend Section 146-42 (Temporary Uses) of the Code of Ordinances to relocate the existing food truck regulations to a different part of the Code of Ordinances (Chapter 138 - Special Use Regulations).

* Recently, the City Council requested that McKinney's food truck regulations be revisited. At the August 14, 2017 work session, the City Council provided consensus that Staff should draft amendments making operating a food truck in McKinney easier while also allowing for the creation of food truck courts. At the September 18, 2017 City work session, the City Council provided consensus that the draft amendments proposed by Staff should be moved forward for consideration and final action.

* Because the Planning and Zoning Commission's authority for considering amendments to the Code of Ordinances is limited to Chapter 142 (Subdivision Regulations) and Chapter 146 (Zoning Regulations), Staff is only seeking the Commission's recommendation on the proposed changes to Section 146-42 (Temporary Uses) of the Zoning Ordinance. However, the proposed food truck regulations are attached for informational purposes.
