RECOMMENDED ACTION:
* Approve the recommendation to City Council.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The Gabe Nesbitt Tennis Center Expansion project includes the addition of 12 new tennis courts, a satellite restroom, a small playground, bleacher shade structures and additional parking. The project also provides for amenities within Gabe Nesbitt Park which includes new playgrounds, open play areas for sports practices, public restrooms, pavilions, hike and bike trails and a maintenance building.
* The project included a base bid and four add alternates:

o Alternate 1: Two tennis court pods which included bleachers, shade structure, benches, landscape and irrigation
o Alternate 2: Large playground, shade structure, safety surfacing and general site work
o Alternate 3: Pavilion, bike rack, signage, decomposed granite, and tables (Green Garden)
o Alternate 4: Tennis court shade structures over the bleachers (unit price)

* City staff worked with Schrickel Rollins and Associates, Inc., a landscape architecture firm, on preparing the construction plans and specifications as needed for project bidding.

* Staff recommends awarding the construction bid to Cooper General Contractors in an amount of $8,169,644 (includes base bid + all four alternates).
