RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract with Alliance Geotechnical Group, Inc. to provide materials testing and inspection services for the construction of the WA8132 - Redbud Pump Station Site Development project, for an amount not to exceed $94,000. 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Alliance Geotechnical Group, Inc. submitted a response to RFQ 15-05 for Miscellaneous Geotechnical and Material Testing services. They were one of three firms shortlisted by City Council on March 3, 2015.

                     Alliance Geotechnical Group, Inc. has successfully performed in a similar capacity on numerous City projects.

                     Construction materials testing ensures that construction-related materials used are within or above minimum specifications required by the City of McKinney Engineering Department.

                     All testing will be documented through the duration of construction and any failed test will provide the City with means to require corrective action by the Contractor.

                     Material testing and inspection services include the following:

o                     Mass Grading/Lime Subgrade and Foundation Subgrade

o                     Utility Trench Backfill Compaction

o                     Concrete and Reinforcing Steel

o                     Masonry

o                     Structural Steel - Field Inspection

o                     Wood Framing Inspection

                     Alliance Geotechnical Group, Inc. has submitted a proposal for their professional services in the amount of $84,923 (0.40% of construction cost).  This is a time and material contract up to the not to exceed amount.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Resolution authorizes a contract with Alliance Geotechnical Group, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $94,000. 

                     Funds are available in the Capital Improvements Program in WA8132.

                     With approval of this item and an accompanying item for the construction contract for the WA8132 - Redbud Pump Station Site Development project, $82,650 will remain in WA8132.
