ITEM SUMMARY:

The Ordinance includes the prohibitions and exceptions with regards to Open Burning within the corporate limits of the City of McKinney.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Currently, the City is utilizing the 2012 International Fire Code (IFC) with accompanying Open Burning Ordinance.

When a new fire code is adopted by the City of McKinney, revisions to the Open Burning Ordinance are required to keep consistency between the two ordinances.

As proposed, adopting the Open Burning Ordinance (as described in the above recommended city council action), and their associated amendments will:

o                     Provide the most current life safety code applications with respect to construction and occupancy of structures, as well as safety of firefighters.

o                     Prepare the City of McKinney for the pending January 2018 ISO re-grade of the Fire Department , which is used in developing insurance rates for commercial and residential properties within the city limits.
