RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of the Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the execution of an Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the temporary closures of the northbound east lane of Custer Road (FM 2478) between Collin McKinney Parkway and Stacy Road for two (2) special events.

The temporary single lane closure will begin approximately thirty minutes before the special event starts for the day and the lane will be reopened to traffic at the conclusion of each event.

Each temporary lane closure is estimated to extend for four (4) hours.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Craig Ranch Fitness and Spa, formerly Cooper Fitness Center at Craig Ranch, submitted an application for a special event permit with the City of McKinney for two (2) Sprint Triathlons in 2018: June 24 and September 9.

The bicycle course of each triathlon begins and ends at Craig Ranch Fitness with a portion of the race course on northbound Custer Road between Collin McKinney Parkway and Stacy Road.

This is the same race route Craig Ranch Fitness has used for previous triathlons.

A temporary closure along state right of way requires an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for each year.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Funds for the setup of these special events are available in the operating budget of Public Works.
