ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Grant funds will be used to pay the existing Victim Advocate position in the Police Department for the next two years.  The Victim Advocate provides social service referrals and advocacy in order to mitigate the effects of victimization, including but not limited to psychological, physical, emotional and financial effects.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     The grant is funded through the Department of Justice and administered through the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division.

                     Without a Victim Advocate, Detectives, in addition to investigative responsibilities, would have to provide victim-support service duties.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The total provided by the grant over the next two years, October 1, 2018 - September 30, 2020, will be $136,676.

                     The grant will provide $136,676 over two years, with a match of fringe benefits valued at $34,169 over two years.
