ITEM SUMMARY:

The North Central Texas Council of Governments coordinates with its member agencies to identify and implement transportation solutions that offer the region's residents with travel choices.  The Mobility 2040 Plan was adopted by the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) in March 2016.

A component of the Mobility 2040 plan includes the development of a regional intelligent transportation system architecture.  NCTCOG has developed a Memorandum of Understanding for its partner agencies to outline the roles and responsibilities of each partner with respect to development of multiagency communication, data and video sharing on a regional network.  The purpose of this item is to authorize the City Manager to enter into the Memorandum of Understanding and thereby joining the City of McKinney as a partner in this regional initiative.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The regional ITS partnership has been established as a component of the NCTCOG’s Mobility 2040: The Metropolitan Transportation Plan for North Central Texas.  This partnership is aimed at integrating traffic operation systems between public-sector entities, including sharing of data and video.
