Consider/Discuss Old Settler’s Recreation Center Programming Highlights and Projected Facility Upgrades

Summary

COUNCIL GOAL:                     Enhance the Quality of Life in McKinney

MEETING DATE:                     March 8, 2018

DEPARTMENT:                      Parks & Recreation

CONTACT:                       Michael Kowski, Director of Parks & Recreation

                     Empress Drane, Recreation Center Supervisor

ITEM SUMMARY:

Empress Drane, our Supervisor of Old Settler’s Recreation Center (OSRC), will provide programming and operational highlights from last year and present an overview of forthcoming events.

The OSRC has welcomed many residents since it was last improved in 2005 (building addition). The facility has experienced normal wear and aging over the past 13 years and is in need of some updates that will renew the look and feel of this family-focused facility.

Director Michael Kowski and Supervisor Drane will discuss the vision for enhancing the facility and property, which will include not only cosmetic and usability improvements, but also required ADA improvements to bring the facility into compliance with current standards.

This is a discussion item and no formal action is required by the Board.
