RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Ordinance Amendment

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This amendment to various sections of Chapter 90 of the Code of Ordinances (Streets and Sidewalk) is required to align with the requirements, criteria, and language as set forth in the new City of McKinney Engineering Design Manual currently published in the office of the City Secretary.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The purpose of the Engineering Design Manual is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public by establishing standard engineering practices and minimum engineering criteria for the City of McKinney, Texas.
* A design contract with Kimley-Horn was approved by City Council on July 19, 2016 for development of a new Engineering Design Manual.
* Development of the Engineering Design Manual has been finalized and included a prior review and comment period with the development and engineering community.
* The proposed Engineering Design Manual, once effective, will replace the Street Design Manual, Stormwater Design Manual, and Water & Wastewater Design Manual.
* Prior to the effective date of the new Engineering Design Manual, a minor amendment to Chapter 90 of the Code of Ordinances (Streets and Sidewalk) are necessary to eliminate discrepancies between the current ordinance and the requirements/criteria/language provided in the Engineering Design Manual.
