RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services contract to provide architectural and engineering services related to the design and construction of Fire Station #10 located at 1150 County Road 228 in McKinney.
• The selected consultant team, Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC, has submitted a proposal to provide professional architectural and engineering services for Fire Station #10 for an amount of $390,600.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Per the Third Amendment to the 2012 Development Agreement for the area known as Trinity Falls, executed October 20, 2017, Fire Station #10 shall have reasonably consistent characteristics of size, type, quality and quantity as the fire station facility currently known as Station #9.
• Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC is a professional architectural consulting firm based in McKinney and has been the architect of record on multiple successful City of McKinney projects including McKinney Fire Station #9 in which Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC. was selected through the RFQ16-15 process.
• The Facilities Construction Division received City Management approval on November 2, 2017, as allowed by Purchasing Policy, Chapter 19 - Procurement of Professional Services, and in alignment with Section 2254 et seq. of the Texas Government Code, to contract with Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC for architectural and engineering services related to the design and construction of the Trinity Falls Fire Station (CIP No. FI1734).
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Per the 2012 Development Agreement, Fire Station # 10 (FI1734) will be partially funded in the amount of $7,650,000 spanning two (2) installments. The first installment of $765,000 has been received and the second installment of $6,885,000 is to be received on or before July 1, 2018.
• Additional funding needed to complete the construction of Fire Station #10 (FI1734) will be identified in the FY19-20 Capital Improvements Program fund.
• The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services contract for architectural and engineering services, including potential changes to the scope of services, with Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC for an amount not to exceed $430,000 which includes a contingency amount of $39,400.
