RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution to apply for, accept and implement the grant award to fund the purchase of ballistic protective equipment for the proper equipping of Fire/Rescue/EMS personnel responding to an active shooter/mass casualty incident

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The UASI program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.
* The purchase of the equipment will protect and increase the survivability of both first responders and civilians

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The UASI program grant award has been sought annually by the City of McKinney to help prepare for, respond to and recover from, natural and man-made threats and hazards

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* The amount of the grant is approximately $90,000 and there is no match required for this grant.
* FY19 Appropriations for this grant award will be budgeted in Grant Fund (Fund 033).
* Ongoing maintenance and operation costs to be absorbed through existing Fire Department Operating Budget.
