RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
* The Building Inspection Department is proposing to enter into a Third Party Code Compliance Service Contract with Bureau Veritas North America, Inc. (BVNA), to provide as-needed plan review and building inspection services during unanticipated excessive workload events.
* An unanticipated excessive workload event might include, but not be limited to the workload impacts felt by a strong hail season. In fact, in 2017 alone the City issued almost 10,000 reroof permits which included almost 10,000 building inspections. This unforeseen addition to already anticipated workloads negatively impacted our ability to provide high-quality services in other areas.
* At this time, there are no immediate plans to utilize Bureau Veritas North America, Inc.'s (BVNA) services.
