RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract and all necessary change orders with RKM Utility Services, Inc. for the construction of Pearson Avenue and Related Drainage Improvements (Waddill Street to Kentucky Street) Project (CO1703) for a total contract amount not to exceed $2,620,000.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     Freese and Nichols, Inc. prepared the construction plans for this project.

 

                     Three (3) bids were received for this project on April 19, 2018. The following is a summary of the bids:

                     RKM Utility Services, Inc. submitted the low bid in the amount of $2,276,434.00.

 

                     RKM Utility Services, Inc. submitted references and qualifications that were verified in accordance with the bid specifications as shown in the attached letter of recommendation.

 

                     The contract documents require that this project be substantially completed within 315 calendar days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed, which is expected to be issued in July 2018.  Construction is expected to be complete by June 2019.

 

                     All necessary right-of-way and easements are in the process of being acquired for this project in order to construct the proposed improvements and are expected to be obtained prior to construction.

                     

                     There is an accompanying item on the Council Agenda authorizing a Construction Materials Testing Services contract for the project.

 

                     There is an accompanying item on the Council Agenda authorizing a Construction Inspection Services contract for the project.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract and all necessary change orders with RKM Utility Services, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $2,620,000.

 

                     With the approval of this item and accompanying items for the Pearson Avenue and Related Drainage Improvements (Waddill Street to Kentucky Street) Project, $75,400 will remain in Project CO1703.
