RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. to provide construction inspection services during the construction of Pearson Avenue and Related Drainage Improvements (Waddill Street to Kentucky Street) Project (CO1703), for an amount not to exceed $90,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* A concurrent item is included on the Council Agenda recommending award of a construction contract for the Pearson Avenue and Related Improvements (Waddill Street to Kentucky Street) Project (CO1703).
* Freese and Nichols submitted a response to RFQ 17-58 for Miscellaneous Construction Inspection services. They were selected as the most qualified firm by City Council on August 15, 2017.
* The Engineering Department has previously identified a need to supplement its current engineering inspection staff with additional third-party construction inspectors to increase the level of inspection provided and to better ensure that new infrastructure is constructed in accordance with the design and City of McKinney requirements.
* A detailed level of construction inspection is required for this project which involves installation of over 3,000 linear feet of 8" wastewater main, approximately 3,200 linear feet of pavement reclamation, approximately 2,500 linear feet of storm drain, as well as approximately 500 linear feet of w...
