RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) has submitted an application to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for the construction of a water resources recovery facility (WWRF) that will serve the growing wastewater treatment needs of the region for the future.
• In conjunction with the resolution of support for the NTMWD’s application to TCEQ, the City has the opportunity to enter into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with the NTMWD concerning a variety of items related to the proposed project. A copy of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding is attached.
• The NTMWD will host an open house for adjacent land owners in June.
• Facility is anticipated to be online in 2023.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The proposed WWRF has been in the planning stages for two years to determine needs and to protect Lake Lavon.
• The land necessary for the proposed facility has been acquired by the NTMWD from the Town of New Hope.
• A location map of the proposed facility is attached.
• The NTMWD has provided a FAQ document pertaining to the proposed facility that is attached.
