ITEM SUMMARY:

Architectural programming is the research and decision making process that identifies the scope of work to be designed including the number of potential staff members to be housed as well as the spatial requirements of potential building square footage and site acreage.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Due to growth of the City and widespread City facilities the decision was made by Council to pursue programming of a new municipal complex.

In 2008, the City commissioned a needs assessment study; that same study was updated in 2011.

On April 5, 2016, Council adopted the strategic goal of Operational Excellence and determined that a timeline for a new Municipal Complex / Downtown Parking should be established.

In 2017, a series of meetings were held with the various city departments that would be housed in a new city hall to identify potential staffing along with functional and operational requirements.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Funding sources will need to be identified in the future should Council choose to pursue the design and construction of a new Municipal Complex.
