The selected consultant team, Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, Inc., submitted a proposal to provide architectural/engineering services for the evaluation of the existing facility and a needs assessment in the amount of $58,600.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, Inc. is a professional architectural consulting firm based in Dallas, Texas. The firm’s services include residential, commercial and civic architectural design.  This firm brings a wealth of experience specializing in municipal facilities including city halls, public safety buildings, fire stations, senior centers, community centers and maintenance facilities.

In developing the best procurement method for this project, the five A/E firms previously selected by the city through a request for qualifications (RFQ 18-16) process to provide on call services for the next few years were reviewed.  Because of this firm’s previous experience with City of McKinney on Parks and Recreation projects, it was determined that the City is best served by the use of BSW on this project.

The scope of work includes an evaluation of the existing facility as well as needs assessment, both near- and long-term. This assessment shall include a study of the potential to build a new Senior Recreation Center in the same general vicinity while repurposing the existing building for other City-related needs.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The McKinney Senior Center Renovation and Expansion project is a CIP project with funds available in PK4394.

The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects for the evaluation of the existing facility and a needs assessment for an amount not to exceed $64,400 which includes a contingency amount of $5,800.
