RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Provide Policy Direction to Staff on Community Development Initiatives for FY2019

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Staff received community input on affordable housing, economic development, job creation and transportation from community meetings held over the past year under a contract with the University of Texas at Arlington to complete the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) tool to meet Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

                     Although the “AFFH Tool” is no longer a funding requirement, the data and community meetings provided important information on the successes and challenges still faced by the community

                     Staff will present data and feedback from residents, developers, realtors and the business community in order to receive feedback and policy direction from City Council

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The contract with the University of Texas at Arlington to provide the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) study was approved by City Council on March 7, 2017, Agenda Item #17-189

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The total cost of the study was $5,267, which was paid for through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds
