ITEM SUMMARY:
• A 45-minute, high-energy interactive traditional Zimbabwean music performance was held at Bonnie Wenk Park on June 9, 2018. The event was a part of the McKinney Cultural Music Series and the City of McKinney Parks & Recreation African Heritage Concert. This is the second year of the concert in McKinney.
• The event attracted attendees of all ages and backgrounds from McKinney and the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Outreach Grants provide financial assistance for the costs associated with a single project, or if the applicant is applying for the first time.
• Per 2017 Arts Grants Guidelines approved by Council on October 4, 2016, Outreach Grants can pay up to 50% of eligible project expenses, not to exceed $3,000.
• Project request for a grant award of $3,000 was approved by the McKinney Arts Commission at its regular meeting on January 18, 2018.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The current balance of Outreach funds is $12,575.
