ITEM SUMMARY:

Teatro Dallas is seeking a $5,000 Project Grant funding for their “Bongo Talks” performances.  There will be three performances for elementary youth:  October, 2018 at Caldwell Elementary School; November, 2018 at McNeil Elementary School; March, 2019 at Old Settlers Recreation Center.

The theme of the show is the importance of intuition, how to recognize it, and how to use it for making decisions in challenging situations.

Following the performance, children will be able to ask questions about the process of creating a play, being an artist, and general theatre questions.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Grants provide financial assistance for the costs associated with a single project, or if the applicant is applying for the first time.

Per Arts Grants Guidelines, Projects Grants can pay up to 50% of eligible project expenses, not to exceed $5,000.

Teatro Dallas was awarded a $3,000 Season Grant in 2016-2017 and fulfilled all obligations under that grant.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Funding will come from the Special Project Grant budget for 2018-2019.  That amount has not been approved by City Council at this time.
