RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract and all necessary change orders with RKM Utility Services, Inc. for the construction of Redbud Boulevard (ST1612) and McLarry Drive (ST1613) Paving, Sidewalk, and Drainage Improvements for a total contract amount not to exceed $2,240,000.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     Freese and Nichols, Inc. prepared the construction plans for this project and has provided a bid award recommendation letter.

 

                     Eleven (11) bids were received for this project on June 28, 2018. The following is a summary of the five (5) lowest bids:

                     RKM Utility Services, Inc. submitted the low bid in the amount of $1,948,487.20.

 

                     RKM Utility Services, Inc. submitted references and qualifications that were verified in accordance with the bid specifications.

 

                     The contract documents require that this project be completed within 270 calendar days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed, which is anticipated to be issued by September 2018.  Construction is currently anticipated to be complete by May 2019.

 

                     All necessary right-of-way and easements have been acquired for this project in order to construct the proposed improvements.

                     

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract and all necessary change orders with RKM Utility Services, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $2,240,000.

 

                     With the approval of this item, $1,612,800 of NTE will be allocated for ST1612 Redbud Boulevard and $627,200 of NTE will be allocated for ST1613 McLarry Drive.

 

                     With the approval of this item, $281,600 will remain in the budget for ST1612 Redbud Boulevard and $20,183 will remain in the budget for ST1613 McLarry Drive.
