RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approve recommendation for allocation of art grant funds.
ITEM SUMMARY:
- Eleven (11) grant applications were received totaling $148,053 in grant requests.
- Nine (9) organizations are recommended for Season Grant funding and one is recommended for funding under the Project Grant category.
- Funding is only provided to support events or programs held within the City of McKinney. This includes funding awarded to any non-McKinney based organizations.

• $20,000 is being recommended for the Public Art Fund. Commission may earmark up to 10% of allocation for Public Art.
• $15,000 is being recommended for Outreach Grants to support new or non-McKinney based organizations bring performances to McKinney.
• $3,000 is being recommended to provide a City membership into the Dallas Business Council for the Arts and attendance for one Commissioner to the Collin County Leadership Arts Institute.
• $500 is being recommended for reproduction materials related to promoting the arts in McKinney.
• $25,500 is being requested to support Arts in Bloom, Juried Art Show, and special Art Exhibits.
• $600 is being recommended to send a Commission member to the TCA Conference.
• $3,000 is requested web-based Arts grant application.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• With Ordinance 2005-01-008, Council appointed commission members and approved funding for Arts projects in 2005.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The approved Fiscal Year 2019 Budget includes $200,000 from General Fund to support the arts in McKinney.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• The Arts Commission recommends accepting the grant recommendations and awarding monies as outlined in the attached Resolution.
