ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City of McKinney provides School Resource Officers (SRO) to the McKinney Independent School District (MISD).
• There will be fourteen (14) SROs and one (1) SRO Sergeant assigned to MISD.
• The cost of the SROs is shared 50% to both MISD and the City of McKinney.
• The cost of the SRO Sergeant is covered 100% by MISD.
• The cost of fifteen (15) fully equipped police pursuit vehicles is shared 50% to both MISD and the City of McKinney.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The prior contract, approved by Council on July 19, 2016, provided for 50% cost sharing of eleven (11) SRO’s and 100% cost paid by MISD for one (1) Sergeant.
• To ensure adequate coverage in all schools, MISD and the City agreed that two (2) additional SROs were needed to service MISD elementary schools.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MISD will pay the contract amount of $1,020,032 for the 2018-2019 School Resource Officer Program.
