ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Ollimpaxqui Ballet Company is seeking a $10,000 Project Grant to help fund their Cinco de Mayo Celebration, April 29 through May 11, 2019, dance workshops on May 4, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and a Cinco de Mayo Celebration Festival on May 4, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

                     The Cinco de Mayo Celebration program will be presented at six to eight elementary schools in McKinney ISD. 

                     The dance workshops and the festival will be held at Old Settler’s Park.

                     Ollimpaxqui Ballet Company’s mission is to increase awareness and promote the traditional and folkloric music and dances of Mexico, Central and South America through educational dance programs, public performances, and artistic enrichment events.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Project Grants provide financial assistance for the costs associated with a single project, or if the applicant is applying for the first time.

                     Per Arts Grants Guidelines, Projects Grants can pay up to 50% of eligible project expenses, not to exceed $10,000.

                     Ollimpaxqui Ballet Company was awarded a $13,500 Season Grant in 2017-2018 and fulfilled all obligations under that grant.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Funding will come from the Special Project Grant budget for 2018-2019.  If this grant is approved, $5,665 will remain in the Special Project Grant budget.
