RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approve the Resolution of Support for Census 2020

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The U.S. Census 2020 is encouraging cities to take actions to ensure that every resident is counted

                     As part of the effort to ensure that every resident is counted, the City will be forming a Complete Count Committee comprised of McKinney residents

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The U.S. Census Bureau is required by the U.S. Constitution to conduct a count of the population every ten (10) years

                     Billions of dollars per year in federal and state funding are allocated to communities based on census data

                     Census data helps to determine how many seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The U.S. Census Bureau will provide marketing materials but not financial support to cities to ensure a complete and accurate count
