ITEM SUMMARY:
• Teatro Dallas presented three productions of Bongo Talks to youth at Caldwell Elementary School, Old Settler’s Recreation Center, and The McKinney Boys and Girls Club.
• The play is based on the idea that intuition, the senses and awareness of these can be used to help children navigate a challenging circumstance or stressful situation.
• The total number of youth served by this project was 745.
• Some students shared with actors that they had never attended a play before.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Outreach Grants provide financial assistance for the costs associated with a single project, or if the applicant is applying for the first time.
• Outreach Grants can pay up to 50% of eligible project expenses, not to exceed $3,000.
• The Outreach Grant request for $3,000 was approved by the McKinney Arts Commission at its regular meeting on October 18, 2018.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The current balance of Outreach funds is $15,000.
