RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services contract to provide the extension of WAN Fiber services related to the design and construction of Fire Station 10 located at 1150 County Road 228, McKinney, Texas 75071.

                     Capco Communications, Inc. has submitted a proposal to provide professional WAN Fiber services for Fire Station 10 for an amount of $319,099.34 which includes a contingency amount of $29,009.03.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Capco Communications, Inc. is a premier network systems integration and fiber optic company founded in 1995 and based in Whitesboro, Texas. 

                     Fiber communication lines owned by the City of McKinney and Collin County will need to be used in order to extend the fiber lines needed and necessary to construct the project.

                     Capco is the fiber vendor for Collin County and the City of McKinney and they have been the fiber optic installer on several successful City of McKinney projects including Fire Station 9.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a construction contract with Capco Communications, Inc. for fiber installation services, including potential changes to the scope of services, for an amount not to exceed of $319,099.34.

 

                     The McKinney Fire Station 10 Project (FI1734) is funded within the FY18-19 Capital Improvements Program with general obligation bonds and Trinity Falls developer contributions and funds are currently available for this contract.

 

                     With the approval of this item and the companion agenda item, $494,779 will remain in FI1734.
