RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This resolution establishes a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $3,875,000 as proposed by ScoBilt Contractors, Inc. for complete design and build services associated with the Old Settler’s Recreation Center Renovation Project (PK4398) located at 1201 E. Louisiana Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract amendment for the GMP for Design/Build services with ScoBilt Contractors, Inc., and any potential future changes, for an amount not to exceed $3,975,000 which includes an owner’s contingency of $100,000.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     On June 19, 2018, the City of McKinney authorized a contract for Design/Build Services in conjunction with the pre-construction phase of the Old Settler’s Recreation Center Renovation Project (PK4398) and potential changes to that scope of services with ScoBilt Contractors, Inc. in association with Spurgin & Associates Architects. 

                     ScoBilt Contractors, Inc. is a 40 year old general contracting firm that has performed renovation projects in both the public and private arenas; they have successfully completed multiple design / build projects with Spurgin & Associates Architects on several projects for the City of McKinney including the pre-construction services phase of Old Settler’s Recreation Center Renovation project (OSRC).

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a construction contract with Scobilt Contractors for construction services, including potential changes to the scope of services, for an amount not to exceed of $3,975,000.

                     The Old Settler’s Recreation Center Renovation Project (PK4398) is currently included in the FY18-19 Capital Improvements Program with a total project budget of $4,300,000.

                     With the approval of this item $314,000 will remain in PK4398.

 

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

                     The Parks and Recreation Board discussed the Old Settler’s Recreation Center Renovation Project in 2018.

                     The McKinney Community Development Corporation discussed this project at their most recent meeting and have approved the allocation of their funds for the project.
