RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes the execution of an Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the temporary closures of the northbound east lane of Custer Road (FM 2478) between Collin McKinney Parkway and Stacy Road for two (2) special events.
* The temporary single lane closure will begin approximately thirty minutes before the special event starts for the day and the lane will be reopened to traffic at the conclusion of each event.
* Each temporary lane closure is estimated to last for four (4) hours.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Craig Ranch Fitness and Spa submitted an application for a special event permit with the City of McKinney for two (2) Sprint Triathlons in 2019: June 23 and September 8.
* The bicycle course of each triathlon begins and ends at Craig Ranch Fitness with a portion of the race course on northbound Custer Road between Collin McKinney Parkway and Stacy Road.
* This is the same race route Craig Ranch Fitness has used for previous triathlons.
* Per Ordinance 2018-12-089, Custer Road (FM 2478) may be utilized twice per year in conjunction with a triathlon.
* A temporary closure along state right of way requires an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for each year.
