RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approve an additional payment not to exceed $6,750 to Artist for 2018 Chestnut Street Garage Mosaic
ITEM SUMMARY:
* On August 21, 2018, City Council approved a contract with Reginald Adams for the 2018 Chestnut Street Mosaic in the amount of $40,000
* The professional services contract with Reginald Adams is attached.
* Contract states that "8. Additional Expenses: If the Artist incurs any reasonable additional costs or expenses that are caused as a result of amendments to the agreed Concept Design or other additional requirements or conditions requested by the City, the City will reimburse these upon production by the Artist of receipts or other evidence of the costs or expenses incurred".
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The artist had to cease installation due to weather. The artist incurred additional rental expenses due to the additional time needed to complete the project and scaffolding needed to paint the additional area outside the original scope of the contract.
* The quote for scaffolding is attached.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* The previous contract amount with Reginald Adams was $40,000.
* The amended contract amount with Reginald Adams will be for an amount not to exceed $46,750.
* The funds are available in the Council approved FY19 McKinney Arts Commission budget for Public Art. The Artist and/or Developer will provide the required 50% match to access the Public Art funds for this amendment.
