RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the attached Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
* The proposed Resolution authorizes the application for and acceptance of funding through a Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program for a trail connection from Eldorado Parkway at Wilson Creek to the newly acquired former Greens of McKinney golf course.
* Application submittals are due on March 1st of this year with notification occurring on June 13, 2019.
* Any funds that are awarded are on a cost reimbursement basis with funding occurring once the work has been completed.
* The maximum that may be awarded per project is $5,000,000 with a minimum 20% local cash match.
* The City will be requesting $1,000,000 in funding from this program.
* Currently funding for design is available in the Hike and Bike Trails Project (PK1213). Additional construction money will be requested with next year's budget in order to commence construction.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* This project will connect the newly completed trail head at Wilson Creek and Eldorado Parkway to the newly acquired former golf course property known as Greens of McKinney golf course.
* This trail segment is on the City's Master Trail Plan as well as on the Collin County Regional Trails Plan.
