ITEM SUMMARY:
* The McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on the project grant application submitted by the City of McKinney Apex Centre in the amount of $200,000 to fund hiring an architect to develop plans for a future expansion of Apex Centre.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* MCDC has allocated $1,364,926 to fund community projects eligible for consideration under sections 501 to 505 of the Texas Local Government Code in FY 19.
* Support for McKinney parks and recreational facilities is a strategic priority for the MCDC board of directors.

* Apex Centre is an 80,000 sq. ft. building and has reached capacity during summer months.

* In order to serve a growing community and maintain a cost recovery model, additional space will become necessary for adequate recreational services and programming.

* Approval of this request would provide funds for an architect to be retained to analyze current space, evaluate business needs, and secure community and staff input regarding future needs of the facility.

* The architect's analysis will include facility assessment, potential for reallocation of current space, development of new space, parking lot reconfiguration and Water Park addition.

* The ability for Apex to remain open and operational during expansion would be mandatory.
