ITEM SUMMARY:
* The McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on the project grant application submitted by Heard-Craig to fund upgrades to the Carriage House on the Heard-Craig property in historic downtown McKinney.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* MCDC has allocated $1,364,926 to fund community projects eligible for consideration under sections 501 to 505 of the Texas Local Government Code in FY 19.
* Support for McKinney entertainment, cultural and tourist facilities is a strategic priority for the MCDC board of directors.

* The Heard-Craig Center, is a downtown landmark historical center that was built in 1900. In 1971, it was formally established as a nonprofit organization to provide "no cost" meeting facilities to more than 20 local educational and fine arts groups.

* The Heard-Craig Center is operated as an event center and art museum with a mission dedicated to education, preservation and enlightenment.

* If approved, the project grant would fund re-design and reconstruction of the flat roof on the Carriage House. The current design leads to water leakage and damage in the building.
