ITEM SUMMARY:
* The McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on the project grant application submitted by Habitat for Humanity of Collin County in the amount of $80,000 to fund critical home repair for low income families in McKinney.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* MCDC has allocated $1,364,926 to fund community projects eligible for consideration under sections 501 to 505 of the Texas Local Government Code in FY 19.
* Support for affordable housing is a strategic priority of the MCDC board of directors.
* Habitat for Humanity of Collin County is part of a global, nonprofit organization working to build strength, stability and self-reliance for families through shelter.
* Habitat Collin County utilizes a two-pronged approach to providing low income housing for families: construction of new homes for working families earning 30-60% below the median income levels for our area; exterior home repairs for low income homeowners earning below 60% of median household income levels.

* All home construction and repair projects are completed through the efforts of more than 7,000 volunteers with materials obtained through donations, partners, sponsors and grants.
* If approved, the funds will allow repairs to approximately 10 homes.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
