ITEM SUMMARY:

Arts Commissioner Jeff Hull passed away in October, 2018.

Commissioner Hull was the President of the Historic Pecan Grove Cemetery Board.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Arts Commissioner Jeff Hull passed away in October, 2018.

Before his death, Commissioner Hull had been working with Environmental Educator Coordinator, Martha Cavazos-Fipps, to install a butterfly garden at Pecan Grove.

In 2018, the City of McKinney signed the National Wildlife Federation’s Monarch Pledge, supporting the creation of beneficial ecosystems to ensure the future of the monarch butterfly and other pollinators.

The McKinney Art Commission has indicated a strong desire to honor Commissioner Hull’s memory with a sculpture bench in the butterfly garden.

A design for a sculpture bench has been submitted by Brian Keith, semi-finalist for the Mitchell Park Sculpture, at a cost of $27,000

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Half of the cost of the sculpture bench ($13,500) will be taken from the Public Art Fund 001-9999-403-8559.  The other half of the cost will be raised through private donations
