RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Appoint a new member to the Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB)

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Current HPAB Member Peter Bailey is unable to continue service to the board due to health reasons

                     Mr. Bailey has been absent from scheduled meetings since November 2018

                     Mr. Bailey has served multiple terms on the Historic Preservation and Parks & Recreation advisory boards over the past decade

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The HPAB consists of seven members appointed by City Council who are McKinney citizens with known or demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge of historic preservation

                     As possible, the board should include an architect; city planner or representative of a design profession; historian; licensed real estate broker; attorney; and property owner of a landmark or of a building in a historic district

                     The role of the board includes determinations and recommendations concerning historic landmarks; use of funds to promote preservation; and support of public awareness and participation in education programs

                     The board meets monthly as required to conduct pertinent business
