RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of this Ordinance.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Ordinance will approve the selected name of Telephone Road for the arterial road extending east of U.S. 75 southward, adjacent to the Willow Wood Estates residential development, and continuing south of Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Based on the proposed One McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan, this arterial roadway is part of a future 6-lane divided arterial that will ultimately begin approximately at U.S. 75 and extend southward to a point south of Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546), and possibly beyond the southern McKinney City Limit.
* This future regional roadway may become part of a potential extension of Spur 399 as part of the TxDOT US 380 Improvement Project, as shown in the RED alignment option. In the event that the RED alignment for the Spur 399 extension is selected and constructed by TxDOT, the alignment of the future arterial would likely be modified, though the name Telephone Road would remain for a portion, or portions, thereof.
* The developer of Willow Wood Estates is constructing a portion of this arterial roadway that begins at McDonald Street (SH 5) and extends along the frontage of the Willow Wood Estates subdivision.
