COUNCIL GOAL:                     Enhance the Quality of Life in McKinney

(5E: Develop Sustainable Quality of Life Improvements Within The City of McKinney)

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Staff will provide updates on bus procurement, job access, and grocery shuttle service.

                     Bus procurement:

o                     The City of McKinney will be purchasing a 13 passenger, wheelchair accessible Arboc “Spirit of Independence” bus

o                     Manufacture lead time is approximately 9 - 12 weeks

o                     The quote and floor plan documents are attached

o                     The bus will be purchased using federal funds with a combination of Transit Development Credits (TDCs) and state funds as local match

                     Job access:

o                     Document attached.

o                     CCT is being utilized to access employment in McKinney, Plano, Allen, Prosper, Frisco, and Princeton

                     Grocery shuttle:

o                     CCT is utilizing one of the buses to transport residents of Towne Creek, Country Lane, Grand Texan, and Grand Reserve apartments to grocery stores

o                     Staff has received tremendous positive feedback

o                     Staff is gauging interest of other communities to expand service

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The Board authorized staff to move forward with utilizing Section 5339 funds to procure a third bus on January 16, 2019.
