ITEM SUMMARY:
• The McKinney Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association was awarded the “Traveling Axe” by the Texas Citizens Fire Academy Association at the 15th Annual Chiefs Forum in Roanoke on March 30, 2019, for their continued commitment to serving the McKinney Fire Department and the Community.
• The CFAAA responds to all working structure fires in the City, help set up, and staff the firefighter rehabilitation area. In addition, the CFAAA regularly attends firefighter training events to provide rehabilitation services, are a constant presence at public education events, provide support and assistance with the annual firefighter’s ball, are present and assist with each Citizens Fire Academy, and help with the annual firefighter written and physical agility exams each year and other recruiting efforts.
• All members of the CFAAA are volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for their services.
• We are proud to recognize the McKinney Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association for their support to the McKinney Fire Department and the citizens of McKinney.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Traveling Axe was created by the Garland Club in 2003. It is presented to Texas Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association member cities to learn about other cities organizations and recognize member cities for their service to their local Fire Department. Texas CFAAA was established in 2002 and has 12 Member cities.
• McKinney Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association has been a member of the Texas Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association since 2014. This is first time McKinney has received the traveling Axe.
