RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into an agreement for furnishing traffic signal equipment by a municipality with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to furnish traffic signal equipment for the intersections of Custer Road (FM 2478) at Bloomdale Road and Custer Road (FM 2478) at FM 1461.
* The agreement allows the City to provide City-standard traffic signal equipment for the project which reduces maintenance costs and response times for City of McKinney traffic signal technicians.
* TxDOT will reimburse the City of McKinney for traffic signal equipment for this project under the terms of this agreement.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* TxDOT is reconstructing a segment of Custer Road from US 380 north to FM 1461.
* Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) policies do not allow them to require their contractor to use certain traffic signal equipment that matches the City of McKinney signal system. TxDOT does allow municipalities to provide City-standard equipment to their Contractor for installation. TxDOT will reimburse municipalities for the cost of this equipment under a project-specific agreement.
