RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approve the Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Historic Collin County Courthouse is eligible for a grant from the Texas Historic Commission to update its master plan. The original master plan was created by Architexas for Collin County in 2000.

                     The grant will reimburse up to $50,000 with a $5,000 match for master plan updates.

                     Historic Courthouses with updated master plans are eligible to apply for grants from a fund of $35,000,000 offered by the THC in January 2020.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Notices for courthouse eligibility were distributed to counties in December 2018.

                     A letter of intent to participate in program was submitted from Collin County in January 2019.

                     City of McKinney has pursued early conveyance of courthouse ownership to help facilitate participation in granting programs for MPAC.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Architexas, author of original Collin County Courthouse Master Plan 2000, is able to update the Master Plan for $49,000.

                     $5,000 will be allocated from MPAC’s professional services and $44,000 will be reimbursed to the Grant Fund from the Texas Historic Commission.
